Minimum Technology Requirements for Life University Students
Life University is committed to providing a rich and engaging learning environment. To ensure all students can fully participate in their studies, the following minimum technology requirements are recommended. Please note that Microsoft Office 365 is provided to all enrolled students at no additional cost.
1. Laptop or Tablet:
· Computer:
o Laptop or Desktop *Chromebooks, Tablets/iPads and Smartphones are not sufficient as primary devices*
o Age: No older than 3 Years at the start of the program
· Operating System:
o Windows 10 or higher
o macOS (current and previous two versions)
· Processor: Intel Core i5 (or equivalent AMD processor) or Apple M1 chip or later.
· RAM: 8 GB of RAM is recommended for efficient multitasking. 16 GB is preferred for smoother performance, especially with multiple applications open.
· Storage: 256 GB Solid State Drive (SSD) is strongly recommended for faster boot times and application loading. A traditional Hard Disk Drive (HDD) with at least 500 GB is acceptable but may result in slower performance.
· Wireless Connectivity: Integrated Wi-Fi capabilities (802.11ac or newer).
· Webcam and Microphone: Built-in or external webcam and microphone for online meetings, virtual classes, and video assignments.
· Display: Minimum 12-inch screen. A larger screen (13-15 inches) is generally recommended for comfortable use over extended periods.
2. Internet Access:
· Reliable internet access is essential for coursework. Students living on campus or in campus housing will have access to the university's internet network. Those living off campus should have reliable broadband service.
3. Software:
· Web Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge is recommended for optimal compatibility with online learning platforms and resources.
· Office Suite: As a Life University student, you will have access to Microsoft Office 365, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other useful applications. Ensure you activate your university-provided account.
· Antivirus Software: Any current anti-virus software
4. Other Recommended Technology:
· Headphones or Earbuds: Useful for online meetings, studying in shared spaces, and multimedia consumption.
· USB Flash Drive or External Hard Drive: For backing up important files and transferring data. Cloud storage options are also encouraged.
5. Additional Recommendations:
· Backup Solution: Regularly back up important files using cloud storage or external drives.
· Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with basic computer operations, including file management, email communication, and navigating learning management systems.
· Accessibility: Ensure all software and hardware are configured to accommodate any personal accessibility needs.
